Meet Stacey Walter

I believe parents deserve support, not shame.

Hi, I am Stacey

For more than 25 years, I have worked in Early Childhood supporting infants, children, and families through some of the most tender and challenging seasons of life.

My background includes serving as an infant teacher, directing early learning programs, and leading a United Way initiative in Central Iowa focused on supporting families through early childhood partnerships.

Through that work I learned something important:

Families thrive when they feel supported, understood, and equipped.

Today I bring that experience into my work as both a Postpartum Doula and Parent Support Coach.

I am proud to be connected with The Iowa Baby Lady and the Iowa doula community, helping support families throughout pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and early parenthood. Through this connection, I continue my passion for nurturing infants, supporting parents, and helping families feel confident, cared for, and supported during the transition into life with a new baby.

Why I Do This

Parents often blame themselves when things feel hard.

But the truth is this:

Parenting is complex, emotional, and deeply human.

Children experience stress.

Parents experience stress.

Families move through seasons of growth and challenge. My work helps families slow down, understand behavior more deeply, and build tools that create more connection and confidence in everyday life.

What To Expect

Families who work with me often say they are looking for:

  • calm guidance

  • practical tools

  • a non-judgmental space

  • help understanding what is really happening beneath behavior

  • support that works in real life

That is exactly what I aim to provide.

What experience do you have working with families?

Stacey Walter has more than 25 years of experience in Early Childhood supporting infants, children, and families. Her work has included infant teaching, directing early learning programs, and leading community initiatives focused on supporting families.

What inspired you to become a parent coach and postpartum doula?

Years of working with families showed how often parents feel overwhelmed and unsupported. Parent coaching and postpartum support provide families with guidance, tools, and a steady presence during challenging parenting seasons.

What is your philosophy about child behavior?

Yes. The goal of this work is to provide calm, compassionate support where parents can feel understood, not blamed.

What types of families do you work with?

Stacey supports families with newborns, as well as parents navigating behavior challenges, ADHD, ODD, attachment concerns, and emotional regulation struggles.
